Compost Bin

Cylinder 21 ComposterTMfor yard waste

Composters, the cornerstone of a successful garden, are the most traditional and reliable devices for creating excellent soil additive humic material, and are great at accepting most any type of organic material thrown at them. They are the tried-and-true models of compost production for the devoted gardener and a resourceful convenience for the proud property owner.

Simpler is better--and the Cylinder 21 ComposterTM is simple, lightweight, easy to use and maintain.

36" HIGH X 36" DIA. 157 GALLON COMPOST BIN

At 21 cu.ft.(157 gallon) capacity Cylinder 21 ComposterTM

is probably the lowest priced composter for its size!

The  Cylinder 21 ComposterTM is constructed of  14 gauge wire mesh with a black breath-able material liner. The cylindrical shape minimizes the surface to volume ratio allowing better composting action than one gets from square bins.(Material in the corners of square bins composts more slowly than material in the center, resulting in an unevenly composted batch.) The porous material liner is specially contructed to keep moisture and odors in while keeping the compost materials "out of sight". The liner also provides a better environment near the outer surface for composting organisms, as it keeps that area from drying out by letting in air --while preventingg moisure evaporation. A top cover of the same material comes with each bin.  The Cylinder 21 ComposterTM can be kept in the yard without its contents becoming an eye-sore to "fussy" neighbors.

Simple set-up: Wire frame is hinged for folding. Setup takes just a few minutes. Unfold the hinged wire sections to form a cylinder. Close with hook-eye latches and insert the hemmed liner. 4 Wire staples are  included to anchor the composter in place until the pile is started.

Easily moved: wire frame can be easily removed when the pile is full by un-hooking the 2 latches and simply “unwrapping”.  The liner can also be removed and inserted into the newly formed wire cylinder. (The contents of the partially or completely composted pile will retain shape )

Construction:  14 gauge welded (hinged every 2'), galvanized wire frame, with attached painted wooden ends containing two hook-eye latches. Breathable fabric liner and cover.

Dimensions: Volume, and Weight - 36" tall x 36" diameter, 21 cubic feet, Less than 9 pounds. Hinged sections of frame allow folding the composter into 24” x 36” x 4” for storage or easy moving.

COMPOSTER COVER

The Cylinder 21 ComposterTM is easy to assemble, and easy to use. You need not turn the compost to get it to a usable form-- just  let it sit 'till done (6-12 months-depending upon your climate).  A light weight lid is provided to cover the compost. It can help keep oders down or keep the rain from compacting the pile. To remove finished compost, either unlatch the hooks and "unwrap" the wire frame, or lift the light-weight frame off the pile (which should be much less than half of the initial volume).

Although materials can be added through the winter,  in freezing conditions the compost organisms will become dormant, waiting for warmer weather to resume their work. If desired, the compost cylinder can be easily removed and compactly folded down into a 24" x 36" x approximately 4" size for storage when not in use.

Two compost cylinders are handier than one.  We recommend using one bin 'till it's filled to the top. Then cover and let it work down while starting the second. By the time the second bin is filled, the first may have composted down into a usable material (Depending upon your climate, quality of materials used, and frequency of adding materials). We suggest letting the compost sit for one full year. In this way the compost will be usable without having to be turned or mixed. However, should you need quick compost or should you desire to turn the pile to hasten the process, the wire-mesh bin is easy to remove from the pile either by unlatching the two hook fasteners  and "unwrapping" or by simply lifting the connected wire frame up and over the pile.
